Wedding gift to Charlotte Griffin Herring, donor's father's grandmother, widow of Captain John Alexander Herring. Jr., who rebuilt the home "Retirement" on Cooks Creek after the Civil War. Base 5" diameter, height 11 1/4". c. 1893.

The lever raises and lowers, 1" x 4 " x 2 1/4" Used by Stickley & Sons for advertisements in the Daily News Record.
