Bristol glass vase with a globe-like base, neck is long and thin, rim is tulip shaped and trimmed in red, decorative red vine pattern around the base and up the neck. Wedding gift to Charlotte Griffin Herring, donor's father's grandmother, widow of Captain John Alexander Herring. Jr., who rebuilt the home "Retirement" on Cooks Creek after the Civil War. Base 5" diameter, height 11 1/4". c. 1893. |
