BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE: Manuel [Ham] Trenary was the first policeman to die in active duty in the Harrisonburg Police Department. During the 1950's Mr. Trenary was shot at the L&S Diner during a robbery by an unknown assailant. His murder was never resolved. The donor, Nancy R. Brubaker was Trenary's niece. SCOPE AND CONTENT: Collection consists of personal effects used by Trenary in Staunton, VA, Police School, including two notebooks, a manual on American Jiu-Jitsu, and a police school examination.
