BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
This is a compilation of letters written by Joseph Funk, Mountain Valley (Singers Glen), Virginia to his daughter May Kieffer and her family in Miami, Saline County, Missouri during the years 1837 to 1848.

Joseph Funk was a school master, author, publisher of music, land owner, farmer, minister, teacher of vocal music and a devotee of poetry. He was the head of a printing, publishing and binding company known as Joseph Funk and Sons located in Singers Glen, Virginia.

SCOPE AND CONTENT:
This collection consists of a draft copy of a publication titled Joseph Funk, Man of Letters by Gary McFarland Gloyd.
