Scope & Content BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
Frank Switzer's paternal grandfather, John Andrew Switzer, was a Confederate veteran and was a long time sheriff of Rockingham County. His father, Walter Switzer, was deputy sheriff who then founded the Harrisonburg Telephone Company. Frank Switzer attended Harrisonburg City Public Schools and graduated from Washington and Lee University. He returned to Harrisonburg in 1924 to help his brother Fred manage the family owned telephone company. He served on the city council for 24 years and as Mayor for 12 years. He married Mamie Omohundro who was born in Clifton Forge.

SCOPE AND CONTENT:
This collection contains genealogical research on the Switzer, Roller, and Omohundro families. There is also a collection of WWII letters between Frank and his wife Mamie.
